Committee Chairs Information Exchange

ACI-NA held its first Committee Chairs Information Exchange Saturday afternoon.  Committee chairs and working group representatives across ACI-NA's nearly 20 committees— encompassing the full spectrum of airport professions and personnel— met to discuss best practices, current challenges, and potential areas for cross-committee collaboration.

A particular focus of conversation was optimizing communication within committees and across the greater ACI-NA membership.  Each committee is a valuable source of expertise and information, yet the challenge all of them often face is making this knowledge easily accessible and visible.  The consensus around the table in Atlanta was that ACI-NA committees and staff do a good job keeping members up to speed on a complex and fast-moving industry, but the channels we use can always be improved.

In the coming months, ACI-NA will begin exploring a redesign of its website and related platforms to better communicate our committees' and members' vast knowledge and expertise.  We'd love to hear your feedback at communications@aci-na.org or on Twitter and Facebook at @airportscouncil. ACI-NA/ACI Europe Joint Board of Directors Meeting

The boards of directors of ACI-NA and ACI Europe met jointly Saturday in Atlanta.  In the afternoon, the boards welcomed guest speaker Bill Swelbar (http://www.swelblog.com/swelbar/) and TSA Administrator John Pistole.

Each year unfolds with its own unique set of challenges and events, and 2014 is no exception.  ACI-NA and ACI Europe face many of the same issues regarding security, capacity, and facilitation, and our joint meetings are welcome opportunities for direct exchange between airport leadership on both continents.  Our photo gallery captures the conversation and close camaraderie between the two regions.  (Caroline O'Reilly - coreilly@aci-na.org)


Operations & Technical Affairs Steering Group Elect Three New Members

During their meeting on Saturday, ACI-NA's Operations & Technical Affairs Steering Group elected three new members to two year terms.  The new members are Jonathan Pope from Massport, Robert Ramsey from Metropolitan Nashville Airport Authority, and Colleen Quinn from Ricondo & Associates.  At the same meeting, outgoing Committee Chair Ian Redhead (MCI) tossed his gavel to incoming Chair Emily Underhill (RSW).  Pat Neville (YYZ) is the Committee's new Vice Chair.  Ian Redhead will be continuing his involvement with the Committee as immediate past chair and as one of Committee's two appointed representatives to the ACI World Safety & Technical Standing Committee.  (Chris Oswald - coswald@aci-na.org)
